With a growing demand for teacher’s aides and learning assistants, this course will qualify you to work in educational settings providing assistance and support to teachers and students in primary or secondary schools, or in community education settings.

Electives may change without notice.
Students will need to complete a minimum of 120 hours of placement in an educational setting. This placement may be completed at the school where they receive weekly training or elsewhere.
Students must have a current Working With Childrens Check for workplacements in schools.
All applicants will be required to meet Eastern’s General Entry Requirements.
All potential students are required to satisfactorily complete a new student interview with Eastern College Australia before being accepted into the course.
During this interview we can discuss your previous experience and training and any credit that may be available.
Initial pre-training assessment will be conducted by reviewing the prospective student’s qualifications, online application and/or written application form.
Further pre-training assessment shall be conducted during the mandatory face-to-face interview. Where pre-training assessment suggests that the Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) ACSF levels are below the recommended level the prospective student may be directed to complete a foundation skills course (at their expense) prior to acceptance into the course.
Students need to have successfully completed a Working With Children Check prior to commencing their work placements. Some educational institutions may also require students to compete a separate police check.
Eastern College Australia values the history, culture and languages of First Nations people and we welcome their participation in all of our courses.
Further study pathways for those who undertake this qualification include the Bachelor of Education (Primary) and Bachelor of Education (Secondary).
Students who completed core and elective units as part of this qualification will be eligible for credit transfer in relation to these units when enrolling in an eligible qualification or accredited course. This will create pathways into qualifications and courses in which these units are a part.
